The Commodore Hotel Draws National Attention
November 5- Buffalo River Review
Perry County's own Commodore Hotel, a Linden landmark, is being promoted by the State of Tennessee along with such destination locations as Jack Daniels Distillery, The Natchez Trace Parkway, Shiloh and Pickwick Landing. The State along with Geiger and Associates of Tallahassee, FL, a public relations firm specializing in media marketing for travel and tourism industry clients, has been touring a group of 24 travel journalists from around the country this week. The hotel, which offers historic charm, fine dining, and quality entertainment has been promoted statewide as a must see destination by state tourism officials and agencies.

Two writers stopped by the Commodore this past Thursday for a tour and luncheon. Renee “Gigi” Ragland a freelance travel journalist who contributes to American Profile , Denver Post (CO), Desert Living (AZ), Colorado Community Newspapers (CA), Rocky Mountain Sports (regional;), Boulder Weekly (CO), Marin Community Newspapers (CA;) and others and Geoff Burton a freelance travel journalist who contributes to the Chicago Sun Times ; Chicago Social and international publications such as Der Spiegel (Germany; Le Progres (France;); Le Monde (France; , Le Depeche (France); Die Welt (Germany); L’independent (France); Borsen-Zeitung (Germany) and others. The writers spent two hours at the hotel where they were told about the restoration and reopening of the historic Hotel, and learned about Perry County. They asked many questions about the facility, the décor.

Geoff, thought the hotel was “very well located for European travelers who come here looking for looking local culture and a great place to stop between Memphis and Nashville. ” Gigi thought Perry County would be a great location for the “intrepid” traveler, those who are adventurous and who could enjoy our rivers and outdoor activities.

Michael Dumont, owner of the hotel said “I am proud that we are being recognized for what have created here. We have an interesting, unique venue, and my wife Kathy and myself and our staff work really hard to set a standard of excellence here for our guests.
Our guests have overwhelmingly endorsed our product and hopefully the writers will be able to convey our story to their readers and encourage them to visit with us and enjoy the scenic beauty that our county offers”
