About the Commodore Hotel

This Linden Landmark has been recently refurbished and restored to its former glory. The Commodore Hotel and Café offers the elegant atmosphere of a big city hotel, whether it's the grand fireplace, high ceilings and beautiful crown moldings of the lobby and rooms, the tasteful décor, or the refined banquet/meeting room and main dining room.

The Commodore Hotel, sits in the heart of downtown Linden, the county seat of Perry County, and is conveniently located between Nashville and Memphis. The area is home to two beautiful scenic rivers, the Buffalo and Tennessee, and is known for outstanding recreational activities such as canoeing, fishing, hiking, hunting, and birding. The pristine country roads leading to the area are a dream for motorcycle riders and drivers alike. Along the way you will pass scenic rivers, pastoral farms, wineries, and Mennonite communities that celebrate old world craftsmanship and organic farming.

This spirit of a simpler era continues upon your arrival at Commodore Hotel. Formerly known as the Staley Hotel, it was built in 1939 – and restored in 2007. The restoration was done using historical preservation standards including preservation of all original woodwork and moldings. The narrow-planked oak flooring was uncovered and re-finished, along with restoration of the original period tile floors and tubs in several bathrooms. Most of the brass door hinges and doorknobs are original.
A former shared, hall bathroom (remember, indoor plumbing was a luxury in those days…so sharing a bathroom was common) has become a spacious bath with a Jacuzzi tub. Many rooms feature exposed brick walls. All enjoy natural light from the large windows, which were the only “air conditioning” in 1939.
Rest assured, however, all rooms now have private baths, and air conditioning. (See “article about returning honeymooner”)

The hotel “Commodore” is named in honor of the county’s namesake: Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry. Perry famous for his his naval victory in the Battle of Lake Erie, in the War of 1812, hails from frm Rhode Island, also home of the present day owners.

No longer a “Western Auto” store, nor the Staley Café with it's jukebox in the corner, the Café has been transformed into an upscale, casual, yet refined eatery. High backed seats with plush cushions, elegant tables and rich, dark woods are all part of the warm, classic setting in the Café. Specialties include fresh hand-cut meats, fish and vegetables, which are exclusive prime quality and cooked to order with the chef’s trademark method: from scratch. Fresh baked rolls and desserts are quickly becoming local favorites. The servers deliver a generous dose of warm hospitality to every honored guest. It's a one-of-a-kind local experience. The dining room features quality live music every weekend, reminiscent of 30’s and 40’s supper clubs.
